Wood Slice Thanksgiving Place Holder Craft

Thanksgiving is a busy day for the Thanksgiving host, there’s no doubt about that. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve observed stressed out hosts. While it can be difficult to give up control on such an important day of the year, doing so can reduce your stress and help the day go smoother. Make sure you check out my tips for having a less-stress Thanksgiving.

A Thanksgiving craft for kids is a fun way you can make Thanksgiving a bit less stressful. These Wood Find Your Place Pins are the perfect craft to set the kids up with (a couple days before the holiday, of course)! As an added bonus, you can do the same thing at Christmas! The kids will know how to do them and can be a bit more independent next time!

Have your child make a place pin to suit each person in your party—then give him free rein to make the seat assignments (just don’t be surprised to find Junior at the head of the table!). Bonus: Each of these turns into a sweet take-home!

How to Make Wood Find-Your-Place Pins

You’ll need:

Instructions:

  1. Paint designs, initials, or names onto small birch wood slices (at craft stores), and allow them to dry.
  2. Then use gel superglue (make sure the grown-ups do this part) to attach pin backs to the back of the slices.
  3. Let dry for several hours.
  4. Pin them to napkins—until your guests wear them for the meal!
