I’m always on the lookout for fun learning games for my boys!  My phone is filled with educational apps. I’ve subscribed to multiple online educational sites for my boys.  With homeschooling I want to make sure my boys have ample opportunities to learn, and to have fun while doing it.

The Little Scholar Tablet by School Zone

When I was sent the Little Scholar Tablet by School Zone, I really wasn’t sure what to expect.  I have to admit that, while I love technology that provides a fun, engaging way for kids to learn, I’m just not a huge fan of some of the tablets that are marketed for kids.

I was completely, pleasantly surprised by the Little Scholar Tablet!

The Little Scholar tablet is designed for children in Pre-K through 1st grade. Kids will have a blast mastering math, reading, spelling, and more, with over 150 preloaded apps, videos, e-books, & songs…With Little Scholar, you avoid the risks and inconveniences of so many other e-products. The positive “no’s” include: no registration or credit card required at start-up; no apps to download; no upsells for buying more apps; no expensive cartridges to lose; no lite or partial-version apps; no advertisements, and no worries about kids accessing objectionable content.

I am totally in love with the Little Scholar Tablet! It is far and away THE BEST tablet device I’ve seen for kids ages 3-7!

Little Scholar Tablet for kids ages 3-7

For a while after we received the Little Scholar tablet I was just having Little Bro (age 4) play on it.  Because the levels are Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade I figured Big Bro (age 7, 2nd Grade) was too old for all the activities.  Then, when preparing to write this review, I sat down and looked at almost every single game on the tablet.

To my delight, many of the more advanced 1st Grade activities are perfect for Big Bro!!!  Now, this doesn’t mean that, if you have a first grader, the Little Scholar tablet will be too advanced.  Rather, you may find that, as your child progresses through the activities, he will begin to pass their peers in academic knowledge and skill.

The games are wonderfully engaging–I even had a fun and challenging time playing a few of the 1st grade math games!  The animation is excellent.

As a parent who is really focused on education, and who has an educational background in child development, I really couldn’t be more pleased with this tablet!  I’m not the only one who loves it. My 4 year old is so proud of his tablet and plays on it every day as a part of his homeschool!

Little Scholar Tablet by School Zone

I absolutely love the parent report card area! I can see how long my children have spent in each grade level, their accuracy, and how long they are spending on each subject.

The Little Scholar tablet by School Zone retails for $199 (it is on sale at Toys R Us for $144.99!).  As a frugal mom I know all you other frugal moms out there are wondering if it is really worth the price tag.  Let’s just say that I would not hesitate to purchase this for my little guys.  I’ve already spent over $150 on various educational apps for my phone and iPad, and that doesn’t even come close to the amount of content that is preloaded onto the Little Scholar.  The sheer amount of content on the Little Scholar tablet puts the value well over $300.

I would highly recommend the Little Scholar by School Zone for:

  • Parents of preschoolers who school at home
  • Homeschool use
  • Classroom use
  • After school use for kids who are struggling in school
  • After school use for kids who are doing well in school and want to be challenged
  • Road trips
