With Halloween just a week away we are having Halloween Parties everywhere! Neighborhood get-togethers, school parties, city celebrations and last week we had a family dinner that was Halloween themed. My sister made Mummy Quesadillas, my mom made a spider web bean dip and I made these adorable healthy Halloween appetizers made from fresh fruit! And not only are the adorable, but they are healthy and allergy friendly too! My son loved the ghosts so much that we have had them every day this week! This is definitely a win with the cute little goblins!
Here is all you will need to make these healthy Halloween appetizers
Grinning Mouths
- Apples – I buy the pre-sliced ones from Costco but you can just slice up any type of red apple
- Mini Marshmallows
- Any type of spread. I used Biscoff because we have a peanut allergy but you could use Nutella, Peanut Butter, Almond Butter or Sunbutter
for a nut free option!
- Toothpicks
Lay all your apple slices down on their sides, and spread your spread of choice on one side of each apple. Then, place the marshmallows on one apple and sandwich it together with another apple! My slices were kind of big so I held them together with a toothpick. Once they kind of dried the Biscoff helped them all stick together so I didn’t need the toothpicks any more. I’m sure peanut better would work even better!
Orange Pumpkins
- Cutie or tangerine oranges
- Celery
This one was the easiest and the cutest, I thought. All you have to do is peel the orange. Don’t separate it, leave it whole. Then cut a little slice of celery and stick it in the hole on top. So cute!
Banana Ghosts
- Bananas
- Raisins (or chocolate chips if you don’t have any dairy allergies. If you do have dairy allergies and would still like to use chocolate chips, try the enjoy life chocolate chips
.)
Peel the banana and cut it in half. Place it so the pointed side is up for the head and the cut side is down. Then I took a toothpick and made little holes for the eyes and mouth. That made it easier to squeeze the raisins in. Then put your raisins or chocolate chips in and your done!
These little healthy Halloween Appetizers were so much fun and everybody loved them. Everybody thought they were so cute and delicious too! It’s so nice to have something for Halloween that is healthy and not all candy and junk food. These are easy enough to make that you could even dress up lunch time with the kids! They are guaranteed to be gobbled right up!
