5 Tailgating Party Ideas for a Killer Tailgating Party

Have you ever walked outside, breathed in the cool autumn air and thought, “Mmm…Smells like football!”

If you can’t think of this time of year without thinking about football then I’m guessing you’re no stranger to the “Tailgate Party”.

Tailgate parties, can be a fun time for the whole family.  With the right equipment, food and stetup you can throw a Killer Tailgating party!

Now, I’m not going to toy with your intelligence, and I’m going to assume you know at least some of the basics of throwing any sort of party.  Here are just a few fun Tailgating Party Ideas that you may not have thought of to help your tailgating party go off seamlessly.

1. Set up a Facebook event or text message chain: This will help you know who is coming, help guests stay in the loop as far as date, time and exact location.

2. Have people sign up to bring food: Whether you’d like your guests to bring meat, sides, dishes, or desserts, one key to a great party is not trying to do it all yourself.  The Facebook event group or text message chain are good places to have people sign up.  Don’t forget the chili! It is so versatile you can turn on large can of Hormel Chili into several sides and dips!

3. Bring portable Bluetooth speakers: What’s a party without music?  Instead of lugging around a bulky stereo, bring a few small portable Bluetooth speakers. You can put these around your tailgating area ensuring that everyone can enjoy the music.

4. Have a separate drink cooler for the kids: This will ensure that they’re not loading up on the Dr. Pepper (who want’s their kid up all night after a long game day).  It will also help the kids be more independent so mom and dad can a little more chat time with the other grownups.

5. Games! Don’t forget to bring fun games for the whole family! Games like Cornhole, Lawn Golf (otherwise known as Ladder Ball), and CanJam are awesome Tailgating Games!

Last, but not least–and I didn’t include this in my list of tips because it pretty much goes without saying…

Make sure you have all your essential tailgating gear!

  1. Don't forget about seating! It's sometimes hard for everyone to find a seat in a crowded parking lot. There are mini-foldable stools that work really great in these instances.

  3. Food is the most important, entertainment is second, and team spirit has to up there too. We love to tailgate. Love meeting other sports fanatics.
