Vtech has long been on the front lines of innovation when it comes to fun and educational technology for kids. My kids still love their Vtech Kidizoom Camera that we reviewed last September. When asked if I wanted to do a Vtech Kidizoom Smartwatch review, I knew I had to say yes!

So, my kids love this watch. We’ll watch Big Brother’s Kidizoom Smartwatch review below in just a second, but first I want to tell you what I think and why I love the Vtech Kidizoom Smartwatch.
- First of all, the Kidizoom Smartwatch is an excellent way to help build creativity! The video recording feature allows kids to make their own little movies! My kids love to make “spy” movies, or record tours of our house, the backyard, and so forth. There is also a voice recorder that allows kids to playback their voice with funny voice effects.
- Builds telling time skills. The Kidizoom Smartwatch comes with both digital and analog clock faces. There are a huge variety of themes to choose from so you can be sure your child will find a clock face that they love!
- Simple Learning Games. I love for my kids to be able to learn in whatever they are doing. Vtech has included a few simple, yet fun learning games on the Kidizoom Smartwatch. These games help kids with hand-eye coordination and response time, critical and spatial thinking, telling time, and more.
- Comfortable and tough enough for kids. While you shouldn’t submerge this watch it is splash and sweat proof.
- You don’t need to buy replacement batteries! Hurray for a rechargeable device!
There are just a couple of cons that I’ve noticed so far:
- As you can imagine, with a watch this small, there really isn’t much storage capacity. My son has about 3-4 minutes of video on his watch right now and the watch is full. This simply means you’ll need to make sure you upload any videos or pictures to a computer on a regular basis.
- If the watch gets turned off (as opposed to going into sleep mode when not in use) or the batteries run out, the date and time will need to be reset when the watch is turned back on again. My son has a habit of turning off the watch via the off switch on the back of the watch instead of letting it go into sleep mode. Then he gets frustrated because the watch isn’t the right time anymore.
And now, I’d like to turn the spotlight over to my little man for a rundown of his Vtech Kidizoom Smartwatch review…
