My kids love to explore. They love to learn about different kinds of animals, different places in the world, and the people who live in those places. While I’d love to take my kids around the world for first hand experiences, that simply isn’t practical for most families, including ours, to do.
That is exactly the reason I love the National Geographic Kids books. I’ve gradually been collecting National Geographic Kids books through my son’s monthly book orders that come home from school. Now, as a part of the National Geographic Kids Insiders team I’ve had the chance to review one of their newest books–their highly anticipated 2015 National Geographic Kids Almanac!
The 2015 National Geographic Kids Almanac is the most recent in a lineup of the world’s best selling almanac for kids.
This New York Times bestseller is packed with incredible photos, tons of fun facts, crafts, activities, and fascinating articles about animals, science, nature, technology, and more. New features include a special section on cute animals; a Fun and Games chapter filled with all-new games, jokes, and comics; a redesigned continents of the world section; all new weird-but-true facts, crafts, and activities; updated reference material, and much more.
The pictures are bright and engaging, and there is plenty to keep inquisitive minds busy. I’m excited to incorporate this into our homeschooling. I plan on using the National Geographic Kids Almanac for exploration, activities, and sources for oral reports for my second grader.
I love that the book is designed to teach on it’s own. If your child is old enough to read at a mid-second to third grade level then they will be able to do most of the activities and games without much parental involvement.
I’m very excited to give my children a glimpse into the vast and diverse world that they live in with the 2015 National Geographic Kids Almanac!
