Inside Blickenstaffs toy store

Stepping in the door of Blickenstaff’s is like revisiting my childhood.

There are a few stops that are a must when we visit our family in Provo, Utah.  One of these stops is Blickenstaff’s, a wonderful toy and candy shop.   Blickenstaffs toy store is a wonderland for kids and adults alike!  Located in Provo, Utah at the Shops at Riverwoods, Blickenstaff’s is a “nice cross between Willy Wonka and FAO Schwarz!”

My husband and I like Blickenstaff’s so much that we decided to make a new Christmas tradition with our boys last Christmas.  Instead of the usual opening of one present on Christmas Eve, we took the boys to Blickenstaffs toy store to let them play around the store and then pick out a small toy to take home.  Unbeknownst to them we were also finishing up our Christmas shopping (talk about last minute!).

When we were in town this June, Blickenstaff’s was one of our first stops!

My crazy kid is ready to get his play on at Blickenstaffs toy store!

My kids love that Blickenstaff’s is a store where you don’t just shop, you explore.  Some of the toys in the store are meant to be tested and tried by little hands.  After spending an inordinate amount of time drooling over perusing the sweets we explored the rest of the store.

With their great selection of high quality and vintage toys, I find myself wishing I were a kid again, “Ooo, I want that! Oh my goodness, that looks so cool!” Our visits to Blickenstaffs toy store are the one time when I’m actually hoping my kids will ask me to buy this or that.

As a mom on a budget (and let’s face it, who isn’t these days) I really appreciate that Blickenstaff’s has a variety of toys at different price points.  I can visit Blickenstaff’s and let my children each pick out a toy they like without breaking the bank.  Of course, there are also wonderful high-end toys if your fancy lay that way.

While our family has made a tradition of visiting Blickenstaffs toy store while we are in town, Blickenstaff’s has been busy searching for items that will help foster family traditions.  Check out the hashtag #BringTraditionHome for great traditions and toys!

With candies of all kinds including old fashioned and retro candies and high quality toys that can’t be found in big box stores, Blickenstaff’s is a destination not to be missed!  You can find Blickenstaff’s at The Shops at Riverwoods in Provo, Utah.

  1. SO fun!! And it even has a fun name. What a great place to shop for the holidays! I bet there are plenty of things there you don't have to worry about also getting from relatives, which happens a lot when everyone shops at department stores.
  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one that enjoys a good toy store! I love that this one doesn't just have run of the mill stuff. When we Christmas shop I always try for the unique.
  3. I would love to have a toy store like this near me. I am definitely going to follow them because I love vintage toys. I'm hoping I can order a few things online!

  8. Wow this does sound like an old store you would see in a movie. I love that they can look around and everything does seem so old fashioned. I love that you shared your story. I won't be going soon since I live in Oregon. I wish there was something like that here.
