When I found out that Swiffer has an all new steam mop with BISSELL  steamboost I knew I had to find out more about it.  I use Swiffer products all the time so I couldn’t wait to try out the new Swiffer BISSELL STEAMBOOST. Swiffer steam cleaner

The new Swiffer BISSELL STEAMBOOST ingeniously couples the power of BISSELL steam with the innovative cleaning technology of Swiffer to deeply penetrate and help remove soils that mops can leave behind. The steam’s heat activates the dirt dissolving solution in the cleaning pad. Together, they break down dirt and trap and lock it away.

When I opened up the Swiffer Bissell Steamboost box I realized that the mop had to be put together.  It came in 3 different pieces and all you had to do was snap them together.  It was so easy that my four year old could have done it.  🙂

Once it was assembled, I was ready to clean!  First you add water to the tank.  It is recommended to use distilled or demineralized water.

Then you need to attach the Steam Mopping Cloth.  I just laid the cloth on the ground and then set the mop on top of it.  Then you fold up the sides and tuck them into the grippers to secure.  There are four grippers to attach it to, one on each corner.

Now you’re already to clean!  Plug it in and wait 30 seconds to use.  There is an indicator light that will turn on when it is ready to use.

Swiffer Steamboost mop

After I mopped I could tell that my floors looked really nice and clean.  But I didn’t realize how dirty my floors were until I saw all that the mop cleaned up.  Look how bad my floors were!  (I think the last time I mopped was 2 weeks before this.) (I think I need to clean more frequently!)

So as you can tell the Swiffer BISSELL STEAMBOOST can really clean up a dirty floor!  You can use the mop on laminate, (which is what my kitchen is), ceramic tile, vinyl, marble, stone and sealed hard wood floors.  It is not for use on unsealed wood floors.  I have used two different types of steamboost mops in the past so I kind of wanted to see how they compared against each other so as I tried out the Swiffer here are my thoughts about it.

Pros about the Swiffer BISSEL STEAMBOOST

  • Smells wonderful!  It was very nice, fresh and clean smelling.
  • It glides very easily on the floor, practically cleaning with no effort!
  • I really liked that the steam mopping cloths were wet and not a dry rag like other steam mops
  • It is very lightweight making it very easy to carry.
  • And with that being said it still seams sturdy and durable.
  • Very easy to use.
  • It has a long cord so you don’t have to unplug and move it around in the middle of a project.
  • I really like that the mopping cloths are disposable.  That way if you have a big mess to clean up you can just replace the cloth without having to wait to wash one first or buy a second one to have on hand.

Here are my cons

  • My floor didn’t dry as quickly as when I use my old steam mop.
  • No on/off switch.  Not a big deal but when it is plugged in on one side of the room but I’m stuck on the other side with a wet floor between us.  It would be nice to just be able to turn it off and then go unplug it when the floors are dried.  But instead I had to walk across the wet floor to unplug it.
  • You have to hold in a trigger if you want steam.  It doesn’t just steam the whole time by itself, so my hand was kind of tired from squeezing it the whole time.
  • The disposable mopping cloths.  If I run out I have to remember to buy more before I need to mop again.
  • It recommends distilled water.  I don’t have any and I’m probably not going to go buy any so I hope that regular water is going to be okay.

With all of that being said I really liked the mop.  It made cleaning nice and easy and I loved the light clean scent.  And even with the cons on my list I would still prefer this steamboost mop over other steam mops that I have used.  I’ve tried two different brands and I really like this one the best.  This new steam mop is PERFECT for achieving that deep clean before all those holiday visitors arrive.  It remove’s the dirt and film that traditional mops can leave behind. It’s also a great resource for cleaning up once visitors leave after the holidays!
