A couple of months ago I had the chance to meet some of the people at Joovy and try out a bunch of their products at at the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City.  A few of the items they had at the show were their bicycoo, tricycoo, and the CocoonX2.  As my 3 year old son and I demonstrated their products we both immediately fell in love with the CocoonX2.

The CocoonX2 is a double stroller that also converts to a jogging stroller and a bike trailer.  It is the perfect sized stroller for me to take my two youngest ones out and about in.  It provides a comfortable ride while keeping them safe from weather elements.  (Before owning the CocoonX2, I got stuck outside in a down pour before.  By the time we made it back home my daughter was soaked!)

Here are some CocoonX2 features:

  • Zippered mesh door that can be covered with a vinyl flap. (Great for if you get caught in the rain!)
  • Two large side windows so the kids can see out and enjoy their ride.
  • Kids stay strapped in with a 5 point harness.
  • Very spacious inside for leg room.
  • Interior pockets for Binky’s and toys.
  • Can carry 2 children up to 50 lbs each. (100 lbs total)
  • It weighs 35 lbs (but you would never believe it by they way it cruises!)
  • Extra large storage area for diaper bags, purses, toys or picnic items!

So, here are my thoughts on the CocoonX2.
First the pros.
I LOVE IT!  It really is the greatest stroller I have ever used.  It is so maneuverable and glides everywhere it goes.
It fits my kids perfectly and  it is made of durable, quality products.  My kids love climbing in and going for rides, and with all the pockets and storage space we can take enough supplies to last us for hours!
We have had a bunch of snow on the ground up until about two weeks ago and ever since it’s melted we’ve been able to get outside–it’s is all my kids want to do!  We have taken the CocoonX2 for walks, to the park, on vacation, and out shopping.
Now I am just dying to get the jogging stroller and bike trailer attachments because I know how much fun they will be.  I can already tell that we will be putting some miles on this stroller this summer, and I can’t wait!

Now for the cons.

The Cocoon X2 is a double stroller so it is a little wider.  When we first assembled the stroller we couldn’t get it out of the house because it was too wide.  This had me concerned, but we have taken it to our local fitness center and out shopping through various stores I have never had any problems fitting through a door or down an aisle.  We just must have a small door leading to the garage outside. 🙂

It does fold up but not as flat as I was hoping.  It fits perfectly inside our garage but it isn’t convenient to throw in the back of our SUV and take somewhere with us.  We did take it with us on vacation and we just ended up taking off the two rear wheels to give us more room to pack all our belongings with us.  The wheels come off easily so that is an easy fix.

It is important to note that the seats do not recline.  The minimum age for riders is about 6 months so this wouldn’t be a good stroller to buy before baby can sit up.

And lastly, the price.  The Cocoon X2 retails for $549 which I think is on the high end but when you consider that you are getting 3 products in 1 that’s really not a bad deal.  I just wish that the attachments came with it.  If you want the the jogging stroller and the bike trailer attachments they can be purchased separately for $69.99 each.

My overall impression

With all that said I simply love the CocoonX2, and I definitely think that it is worth purchasing if you are looking for a high quality, versatile stroller.  It will last forever!  Joovy really thought of everything when they designed this.  They made everything with high quality products and you can tell.  You will definitely not be disappointed with this stroller!  So check them out online and on their facebook and twitter pages.  While you are there check out all their amazing products.  All their products are useful, practical, good looking and fun!

  1. WOW! That's awesome! I love how spacious it is! Enough room for 2 kids and storage in the back. I so need one of these especially expecting our 5th next month!
  2. We'e actually been wanting something just like this! Great review!
  3. The Cocoon X2 looks like the perfect solution to staying active with kids!
  4. Jenny @ MyLittleMe says
That's so cool that it can be a stroller and a bike trailer!
  5. I LOVE this! I have always thought a bike trailer would be awesome, but didn't want to have to store it along with the other strollers and gear we have. Having a stroller that converted to bike trailer would be perfect!
  6. So weird that I was just checking this out on the Joovy site! I just had baby #2, and I'm hoping to train for my first half marathon this year, so I really need a good double stroller. They're really hard to find! Thanks for your honest thoughts on it. It's going on the top of my list! Maybe I'll ask for one for Mother's Day :)
  7. I"ll probably consider this down the road for Q and E - but not for S and Q - something tells me they'd badger each other too much! Thanks for such a great informative review - seeing someone else's thoughts (especially Pros AND Cons) is always super helpful!
  8. Excellent! I also am using this stroller for my son. What I like most of this stroller is that it is lightweight and easy to move on the sidewalk.
