Almost everyone has been touched by issues with infertility, miscarriage, infant loss, and adoption. My own mother experienced the loss of two of her babies. My little brother passed away in an accident when he was just 15 months old. He was followed by a sister who was stillborn. I learned at a very early age the about the fragility of human life. Though it is not something I dwell on, I know that the loss of a child through miscarriage, illness, or accident is a very real possibility.
Songwriter Katherine Nelson recently released a new music video to help women know they’re not alone in their experiences. In it she celebrates the courage and love of those who experience loss of pregnancy, adopt children into their families, and the mothers who place a child with a loving family.
The circle of women in my life is quite large. Between four sisters, ten sister-in-laws, and a whole lot of friends I’ve witnessed so much heartache when it comes to watching some of these women not be physically able to bear children, or suffer losses of children along the way. For some, creating families has come easier than others. For many it is a struggle. I’m always surprised at how miraculously God’s hand works in helping put families together…This song was written for every woman who has the heart of a mother, both old and young, and especially to those who yearn for a family of their own.
“What’s Mine is Yours” is part of the album entitled Born Brave. I love this mantra from the album…
You can purchase Born Brave for $15.95 on CD or $12.99 on mp3.
