Withl the hustle and bustle of the busy holiday season approaching I am always on the look out for all the new hot toys for my kids.  Unfortunately, I forget to pay attention to all the other products out there for us grownups!  That’s why when I got the chance to try out the new PUR Water Filtration System I was so excited!  Even my husband could tell how excited I was to try something out for us and our home.

Have you ever thought why people filter their water?  Sure it taste’s better, but there has to be something more to it.  Well there is!  Our health!  Our body is over 60% water and every system in our body needs water to function properly.  So it is very important to stay hydrated.  But did you know that in our tap water there are trace levels of many different items that can be harmful to our health?  Things such as:

  • Metal: Lead and Mercury
  • Pharmaceuticals: Steroids, antidepressants, pain killers and antibiotics
  • Industrial Poluttants: Benzene and asbestos
  • Agricultural Pollutants: Pesticides and herbicides
  • Cholorine
  • Microbial Cysts: Cryptosporidium and Giardia

Yikes!!!  All of that makes me sick thinking about it!

Now I am really happy I got to try out the PUR mineralclear faucet mount filter.  It eliminates 99% of lead and microbial cysts.  And, not only is filtered water good for your body but it is also good for the environment. With the PUR faucet filter you can save up to $800 a year, eliminate up to 3,200 plastic bottles a year, and enjoy refreshing, filtered water for up to 1/15th the cost of bottled water.

Here is our faucet with the filter on it.

And with the new 1-click installation putting it on our faucet was a cinch!  No tools required!  Although after using our faucet mount for 2 weeks it just fell off one day.  I just called their customer service line and apparently they have had a problem with the washers and adapters.  They were made out of plastic and so they fixed the problem by sending me a new washer and adapter that was made out of metal.  It’s been working perfect and we haven’t had any problems since!  I simply love it!

Our faucet sits a little lower with the filter tap but it doesn’t bother me any.  The PUR attachment swivels so you can turn it around so its out of your way when your doing dishes or something.  Plus, with the faucet mount you can use regular water for dishes and stuff and then when you want filtered water you just flip that black button on the side to get filtered water.

I love the PUR Faucet Mount Filter for making my daughters bottles!  I was using bottled water or jugs of water bought from the store but now I can easily make bottles from the filtered tap water.  Saves me time and saves the environment all at the same time!  The only drawback is that sometimes the water is not really cold.  But you can easily add ice or just fill a pitcher and put it in the fridge for cold water.

If you prefer to always have cold water you should check out PUR filter pitchers.

They come in a 5 cup or 7 cup pitcher and retail from $19.99-$27.99.

So as your doing your Christmas shopping this year don’t forget to think about all those adults out there.  Parent’s, grandparent’s, college students or your spouse!  This would make a great gift idea for you or someone else!
