Did you ever watch the show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when you were growing up?  I never did but my husband was completely obsessed with them.  His favorite was Raphael, and when he was younger he would role play and act as the turtles with his 5 brothers.  They dressed up and had homemade weapons too!  I can just imagine what a house of 6 boys was like!

Well, in a totally epic return, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, one of the most popular kids’ entertainment brands of the past 25 years, has emerged from the sewers to delight kids of all ages this holiday season!

Playmates Toys, the driving force behind the global toy sensation for decades, has unveiled an incredible new product line consisting of action figures, playsets, vehicles, and role play gear, inspired by Nickelodeon’s all-new CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which premiered on September 29, 2012.

Here is a little info about the Deluxe Power Sound FX Figures that we tried out

  • Able to deliver battle phrases with awesome sound effects, the Power Sound FX Figures comes to life like never before!
  • Each of the figures stands 5.5 inches tall and features proprietary wire coil activation in the arms and legs that triggers heroic battle phrases.
  • Kids simply pull back and hold the activation limb to hear reverberated phrases such as “I’m invincible!” and “Hiiiiiiii-yaa!”
  • Each figure comes with different battle phrases and sound effects, as well as their core Ninja weapons.
  • The Power Sound FX Figures collection includes Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Shredder.
  • Recommended Age: 4+
  • Suggested Retail Price: $12.99 each

My son was so excited to get out his Leonardo figure and he played with it all afternoon!  Probably for over 3 hours straight!  He loved it!  My first thought was “boy that is a noisy toy!”  But he was having fun so I just let him keep playing.  He really enjoyed hearing their phrases and would repeat them back.  It was pretty cute.  But after a few hours (and no nap) he turned to me and said I don’t want to play anymore it’s really noisy.  So we put him away for a day or two and then after that he wanted to get him back out to play and he really enjoyed it again.

My overall opinion on the Power Sound Figures is that they are lots of fun in small doses.  But, as a parent they might just drive you crazy if played with for 3 hours straight!  Here is my little guy playing with Leonardo.

Check out the other Turtles and Figures here, and look at Donatello on his Rippin Rider!  I know my son would love this!  He is obsessed with motorcycles right now!

So if you’ve got some boys with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on their wish list this year make sure you check them out online.  You can follow them on facebook and twitter too, to see all their new creations.  You can also purchase them at Toys R Us, Target, Amazon and Walmart.  These would be so much fun for stocking stuffers or for gift exchange presents!

Disclosure: I was provided with the figures by Playmates, at no cost to myself, for review purposes. All opinions expressed are honest and are entirely my own.

  6. My son has the whole set of Sound FX turtle figures. Now we're starting to look at accessories for Christmas. Do you have any idea whether these larger figures fit in the van and other accessories?
