We all get into the giving spirit during the Christmas holidays.  What would be better than to give a gift with 2 times the gift giving power?  World Vision makes that possible.  With the mission to provide children and families around the world with essentials needed to survive, World Vision offers you the opportunity to give a gift to a loved one while supporting a family or child in need at the same time.

I first learned of World Vision last year when they joined my Holiday Gift Guide.  When they emailed me again this year I jumped at the chance to work with them again.

World Vision truly understands the meaning of Christmas.  With the World Vision Gift Giving Catalog you can choose from several gifts, find the perfect gift for you loved one, and provide basic necessities to a child in need, all at the same time.

Here are just a few of the gift you can choose from:

World Vision Veggie Tales

Veggie Tales “Incredible Vegetables” DVD

World Vision Gertie the Goat

Plush Toy Goat

World Vision Beaded necklace

Artisan Beaded Necklace

World vision bracelet and earrings

Colors of Africa Bracelet and Earrings Set

Each of these gifts donates the excess of the price of the item to the Maximum Impact fund to help families around the world where and when they most need it.  I received the Artisan Beaded Necklace (pictured above) to review for this post.  The thing I love most about this necklace is that you can tell it was handmade with love.  It doesn’t look cheap, but rather looks like something I traveled halfway around the world to purchase from an artisan.  The glass beads are unique and colorful, and the cords that bind them all together are strong.  The necklace (which will be a gift for my little sis) will look beautiful as a necklace or bracelet!  It is long enough that she may even be able to wear it as a belt!

In addition these gifts, at World Vision you have the option of simply purchasing basic necessities for a family.  For example, for $100 you can purchase a dairy goat and 2 chickens for a family in need.  This gift will provide the family (and often others in their village as well) with milk, cheese, yogurt, and fresh eggs.  As new chicks hatch the receiving family donates those chicks to others in their village.  Families can often sell some of the food or offspring from their animals, and use the money to send their children to school.

If you are looking to change lives and give back this giving season make sure you visit the World Vision Gift Giving Catalog.
