My kids are going through a craft craze! They would be in heaven if I did craft time with them every day. Sadly, I have not that much creativity. I’m good for a couple ideas a week, but that is about all I can muster.
Thankfully, for crafty and creative kids everwhere, we’ve got Klutz. Started in 1977 Klutz has grown from a couple of college kids peddling books on how to juggle to a family of products that includes: Klutz Kits, Klutz Toys, Klutz Buckets, and Klutz Guides.
Klutz are what I’d consider a “must-have” Christmas gift for that creative little someone!
As a mom of boys I know that it can be pretty difficult to find pre-made craft activities designed little boys. That’s why I was overjoyed when I got on the Klutz website and found a huge selection for boys as well as for girls.
We were sent a few Klutz books to review for our holiday gift guide. Two of them we haven’t shown the boys yet because we’re saving them for Christmas. 🙂
I love that, both on the Klutz website and on the back of each activity book, the book is given an age designation. The Disney Lightning McQueen Build and Race book and the Buzz Lightyear Foam Gliders are both designated as ages 4+. The Coin Blaster Arcade and Star Wars Folded Flyers are designated for ages 8+.
Both boys went crazy when they saw the Buzz Lightyear Foam Gliders book! I love that this ages 4+ book is simple enough for them to do with minimal intervention from me.
My favorite of the books we were sent are the Coin Blaster Arcade and the Star Wars Folded Flyers books. I remember as a kid shooting quarters, but we had nothing so cool as the fold out, arcade-like goals that the Klutz Coin Blaster Arcade book has.
The Folded Flyers book is equally cool for the Star Wars lovers. The first half of the book tells all about each of the ships–the specs, who flies it, etc.–and then gives instructions on how to fold the paper for the flyer. The second half of the book are the papers to make the flyers. The papers are printed so that, when folded properly, the paper resembles the actual craft.
The age designations are very appropriate, and though Big Brother is just 5 I think he’ll have a wonderful time doing the Coin Blaster Arcade and the Folded Flyers with his dad.
You can keep up with all the latest from Klutz on Facebook.
