Today’s little ones are becoming more technologically capable than ever before. Therefore, it is no surprise that today’s leading toy manufactures are trying to keep up with the times in creating exciting, modern and innovative products. However, as tech-savvy as kids are these days, parents are still concerned about the educational content of the games their children are playing.
There is a new, very affordable toy, just out that I’m very excited about. I just saw it on Kickstarter and it looks awesome! Webee, comes with a simple to use interactive keyboard. Webee keyboard comes with only 4 buttons (red, yellow, blue and yellow). Webee is designed to rest over the keyboard of any laptop, meaning that Webee can be used in numerous locations (as long as there is an internet connection).Webee has loads of games to choose from, all providing some sort of educational lesson; as well as being interactive and fun.
Webee operates under a SaaS based system, meaning that its games, software, etc. are completely online- therefore there are no installations or downloads required. When first starting to use Webee, each user creates a unique online profile- allowing parents to track their child’s development in order to see what aspects they might need improvement in. Webee definitely helps in early childhood development; satisfying the necessary motor, cognitive, social and communicative skills. And at only $50, it is a rather great deal.
Another neat thing about the product is that it will soon come with an SDK (software development kit) allowing anyone with an idea and little bit of know-how to develop their own games for Webee’s online learning universe.
Also, Webee plans on releasing an Educator Development Kit (EDK), meaning it will soon be possible to create educational worksheets, lessons, and activities (from math, to spelling, to color recognition) using Webee’s games as a template. These worksheets, lessons, etc. can then be sold on Webee’s site to other parents or teachers looking for similar activities for their children- providing a nice possibility of a little additional income.

Disclosure: I was not compensated in any way for this post. I think that Webee sounds like an awesome idea and just wanted to help spread the word.
