This summer, while at EVO Conference in Park City, UT I had the fun opportunity to meet some of the wonderful people at Hallmark.  Hallmark had a room set up where you could create and send encouragement cards to your little ones (or not so little ones) at home.  My boys loved getting cards from mommy while she was gone!

Now, with the start of school, we might find our children begin to get overwhelmed and occasionally discouraged.  5 year old Big Brother started kindergarten this year.  Here is what his schedule looks like:

Wakes up at 6:45 am

Leaves the house at 7:20 am

Gets home off the bus at 3:20 pm

30 minute snack break

Starts homework at 4:00 pm

TV time from 4:30-5:30

Bed at 7:30 pm

In case you missed it, Big Brother, at just 5 years old, had just 1 hour of unstructured time to himself every day.  I feel for the little guy.  During the school year a lot is expected of our kids.  They are subjected to much more structure than they have during the summer, and have a LOT of demands placed upon them.

That is just one of the many reasons for Hallmark Card‘s new Encouragement cards for kids.  Sometimes they too need to be told that they are appreciated, that their hard work is not going unnoticed.  Sometimes kids get so frustrated they act out in school.  Sometimes, what they need, instead of punishment, is simply a bit of loving support and encouragement.  There are so many reasons for giving your child a Hallmark Kids Encouragement Card.

Another great Hallmark gift for kids is their recordable storybooks. We got our first recordable storybook from Hallmark when The Husband was at Officer’s Training for the Air Force a year ago. He was gone for over a month and I knew the boys would miss him terrible, especially at bedtime. So, I sent the book to my husband who recorded himself reading the story and sent it back to us.  That way my husband was still able to read the boys their bedtime story every night.  The boys LOVED it and still love reading it.  I plan on buying several of these when The Husband is deployed.

Hallmark’s Recordable Storybooks are not just for military families, of course.  They are the perfect gift for/from the grandparents, aunts, uncles, or just from you to the kids.  Your kids love to hear your voice and what’s better than having a story read to you whenever you want!

Hallmark sent my boys a Curious George Curious On your Way book.  I was so excited because my boys love Curious George!

Here is a cute picture of the boys enjoying their new Curious George Recordable Storybook book!
