With it being so hot outside this summer sometimes I like to kick back with a cold drink. I love the flavored waters after I exercise but sometimes all I really want is an ice cold diet cola. But with the price of everything going up I feel like buying a 12 pack of soda is getting to pricey unless you get them on sale. Plus then you have the waste of the cans. I like to recycle them and no, you don’t get much cash out it but it definitely is better for the environment. So when I heard about the SodaStream I really wanted to try it out.
SodaStream is a Home Soda Maker that gives you the ability to make carbonated water, soft drinks and sparkling water in the convience of your home. Now you can enjoy the freshness and convenience of homemade soda all while saving money and protecting the environment! And guess how easy it is to make?
This is all you have to do
- First fill the bottle with cold water
- Then screw it onto the SodaStream
- Press the button the add the carbonation
- Then add your flavoring
How easy was that? Now you can have soda anytime you want! Plus you have reusable liter bottles that you just wash and use again. No more waste for the environment! I love it! Plus it is so convenient to store. One bottle of flavoring equals 33 cans of soda. I don’t think I would have anywhere to put that many cans of soda but I sure can find a place on my pantry shelf for one little bottle of flavoring. Plus it does not run on batteries or electricity. So the next time our power goes out I think we’ll have a little party with some drinks!
And there are so many uses for it. We had a party the other night and were able to make special orders for everyone. And my kids have had fun making the root beer and having root beer floats. I also have a marinated turkey recipe that uses lemon-lime soda so now I can just make that up with out having to run to the store! I’m so lucky I haven’t had sick kids in awhile but the next time we get the flu now I can just make a bottle for them to sip on to settle their little tummies and I won’t have to call a neighbor to see if someone has any to borrow. The possibilities are endless!!!
So this is what you need to make your own soda or flavored water. First you need one of the SodaStream machines. They have 7 different kinds to pick from and a guide to help you decide which is right for you. Check it out here. This is the Genesis SodaStream
Then after you have carbonated your water, just add either their all natural unsweetened flavor essence
or you can add one of their 60+ flavorings.
I absolutely love how quick and easy it is to make up a drink. Plus it is lots of fun to do with the kids. I feel like the possibilities are endless with all their flavor options. And I love that it is better for the environment. The only downside I see is the taste. I am not a picky person. I don’t care if it is a Coke vs a Pepsi or a 7up vs Sprite. They all taste different but they are all soda to me. But if you are very picky about taste (like one of my sister-in-law’s) then you might not enjoy some of the flavors. But as for me, I enjoyed it and I love how quick, easy and convenient the SodaStream is. It has definitely been a hit at our house! So check them out online here and follow them on facebook and twitter to keep up to date with all their new flavors and products!
