I wanted to let you know about a special reading event taking place in right here in San Antonio next Saturday, April 14:

As part of the Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories program, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, Cheerios is holding a “Breakfast & A Book” event at a local H.E.B.’s in-store literacy center. For your background, the Spoonfuls of Stories program distributes six million free bilingual children’s books inside specially-marked cereal boxes. First Book – Cheerios’ longstanding nonprofit partner – is also working to get books into the hands of low-income children.

Here are the details:

  • When? Saturday, April 14 at 10:00 a.m.
  • Where?H-E-B (in-store literacy center)

6818 South Zarzamora

San Antonio, TX 78211

  • What? Award-winning author Liz Garton Scanlon will read a selection of in-pack titles to a group of children and encourage donations to First Book. Cheerios will also donate 5,000 books to the San Antonio Food Bank – a Feeding America affiliate.
  • Why come? Each child will take home four new books, including “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and…Cheerios!

I know I’m going to be there with my boys!  Big Brother, out of the blue, told me this morning that Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is his favorite movie!

If you are planning on going shoot me an email (amy at ohsosavvymom dot com) I’d love to meet up with you!
