During the long months of summer there comes a point when days seem to drag on, kids get bored, parents weary of their bored children.  Unless you live in an amazing area, gone are the days when you can simply let your children roam the out doors from dawn to dusk.  That’s why I love the idea of summer camps like Camp Huawni.  I went to a week long summer camp when I was 11 and I loved it!  I even got to fly on an airplane to go there.  I was in kid heaven!

Here is a bit about Camp Huawni:

Camp Huawni is the dream-come-true of Earl and Retha Adams, two lifelong Texas educators who invested their lives in the encouragement of youth.  The summer camp they founded in 1965 where ‘kids could just be kids,’ is a tangible legacy of their Christian faith and their love for kids. That tradition continues today as Camp Huawni remains one of the top youth summer camps in Texas while being operated by Earl and Retha’s sons, Mike and Pat Adams, along with their families.

Camp Huawni is rooted in 5 core values:

– Simple fun is the most fun.
– We were made to play outdoors.
– Life is meaningful relationships.
– Rich tradition reminds us of who we are.
– Real personal growth begins and ends with our Creator.

And just cause they’re having such a good time I thought I’d share this video of some of last year’s campers enjoying Camp Huawni
