Dance parties are a regular occurrence–by regular I mean daily. Little Brother loves to rock out to his favorite kids songs like “If you’re happy and you know it” and “Apples and Bananas”. While those songs are great fun, Big Brother prefers much more upbeat tunes if he’s going to dance.
Enter the Anna Banana Band! The Anna Banana Band debut CD “Anna Banana band” is kid songs for the cool kids. Upbeat and “punk-rocky” kids can really get down to these songs. The lyrics are fun and just repetitive enough for kids to learn them without driving the parents mad. There are a variety of beats: rock, folk, reggae, and what I call beach rock. They are all pretty tame and very appropriate for kids. The Anna Banana Band has a great mix of just for fun songs, songs that teach educational concepts (shapes, shadows, etc.), and songs that tell a story.
My boys favorite songs are the Dinosaur song (they love doing the dinosaur “ROAR!!”), 5 Punky Monkeys Jumpin’ on the Bed, and Robot Dance. You can listen to clips from those songs on iTunes. The only criticism I could possibly have of the Anna Banana Band CD is that the recording quality is not quite up to par with other professionally done children’s music. But, hey, everyone has to start somewhere, right. The songs are fun, well, written and kids love them so, for me, the quality of the recording isn’t a big deal.
The Anna Banana Band CD has a total of 13 tracks and can be purchased on iTunes or CD Baby for only $10. If you live in the great city of New York check out the Anna Banana site for how you can schedule a live show for your next party.
