If you have an iPhone and you have a kid aged, oh, about 4 or under here is an item that will be on your “must have” list.  Seriously.  I thank my lucky stars that I found out about HappiTaps fairly soon after I got my iPhone.  Not only do I love my iPhone, my children think it is the greatest toy ever invented.  My toddler figured out, after just a couple days, how to unlock my phone and move stuff around on my dashboard.

I downloaded a few free apps to keep my kids busy when we are out and about, but most of those don’t keep them occupied for more than 5 minutes.  In addition to the limited playability, I’m always nervous to let the kids hold my phone.  I’d never think of letting them use it unattended.

Infantino, the maker of HappiTaps had all this in mind when they created the “loveable, huggable, smartphone friend”

HappiTaps keeps my kids (ages 4.5 and 21 months) busy for…well, for as long as I’ll let them play.  HappiTaps is super easy to use and is both kid and parent friendly.  You simply download the HappiTaps app for the iPhone–it’s free!–then slide your iPhone into your HappiTaps friend “Beary Happi”, hand it to your kids, and let them play to their heart’s content.  You don’t have to worry if the phone is dropped or even “accidentally” launched half-way across the room.  HappiTaps is nice and padded.

The app you download (did I mention it’s free) is awesome.  Most free apps have very limited playability, but the HappiTaps app has several different modes your kids can play for free.  Little Brother’s absolute favorites are “Feeding Time”, “Peek-a-Boo”, and “Sing Along”.  Older toddlers and kids will sometimes be able to figure out how to switch between modes.  For the younger kids, parents can switch to “Toddler Mode”.  The app will automatically cycle through the activities.

One thing I love about the app is that it does not shut off after a period of inactivity.  Because my toddler knows how to unlock my phone, I have my phone password protected.  That means if the iPhone shuts off after a period of inactivity, Little Brother can’t get it back on by himself.  “Beary Happi” the iPhone holder also prevents curious fingers from pressing the buttons on your phone.  Your kids will only be able to interact with the HappiTaps app.

Here is a short video of Little Brother enjoying his HappiTaps…

You can purchase Beary Happy, the loveable, huggable smartphone friend at HappiTaps.com for $19.99.  You can download the HappiTaps app for the iPhone for free.

  1. Really cute! The cover for the phone that matches the app is so creative!
  2. Love this! I have been looking for a baby friendly app and this fits the bill. Can't wait to see what my little man thinks of the whole thing and so pleased with the toddler feature so he can't get out of the app and into who knows what else! Thanks for sharing =)
  3. what a fun app- I can't believe they make all these fun things for kids now and days. Where were these fun things when I was growing up :). Great review.
  4. I got the happi taps case as a gift and wanted to put the app on my iPhone 4s... I should have noticed that this was a old product because the app was not compatible with anything over 4s. The FREE APP IS GONE. So there for the case that goes with it is worthless. DO NOT spend your money on the case because there is no longer a HappiTaps app for iPhones.
    • That is a bummer. I have the app on my 5s, and it seems to work fine, but you're right, I don't see it for download anymore. In my opinion they have come out with too many in-app purchases for a baby/toddler game. While that is annoying, the free version (that I have had since I originally did this review) seems to function fine. I do admit, however, that I deleted it off my phone because it took up so much space and my current toddler (not the one who originally reviewed and loved it) just isn't interested in doing anything but pressing the in-app purchase buttons. Thanks for letting me know. I'll update my post to reflect that this is now an outdated product.
