The first year I spent with my husband and his family we had only been dating for 6 months and I wasn’t exactly sure what to get his parents for Christmas.  We weren’t married or even engaged yet so I felt kind of weird going out and buying them some big present but I did want to get them something.  So my sister gave me an idea of homemade hot chocolate.  I went and bought enough mugs for there family and then I made the hot chocolate to go with it.  I thought it turned out to be a really cute and thoughtful gift.  Since then I have given it to friends and neighbors during the holidays.  So here is the recipe.

Homemade Hot Chocolate

  • 6  2/3 cups nonfat dry milk powder
  • 1 cup instant chocolate drink mix
  • 1 (5 ounce) package cook-and-serve chocolate pudding mix
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered nondairy creamer
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa

Mix it all together in a bowl and then you can separate it into smaller packages to give out.

This is really cute given in a mug with a candy cane or marshmallows!

That's so cute! Last Christmas, I was low on funds, so for all of the adults I needed to get gifts for, I made them cinnamon sugar donuts with eggnog filling. They were delicious! I just put them on one of those dollar store trays with the lids, added ribbon and a personal sized coffee bag.
