Candy.  It was the main stocking stuffer at our house.  Kids love all things sweet and sugary, right?  I’m a pretty laid back mom.  My kids get candy on occasion.  I’m not opposed to a little sugar.  What I am opposed to is other stuff that is put into candy to make it taste so yummy.  Thankfully there are now companies springing up that make natural and organic alternatives.  And let me tell you, they are good!

One of these companies is Surf Sweets.  Surf Sweets are made with organic fruit juice and sweeteners.  In addition to being free of artificial colors (yeah! artificial colors in food is a big pet peeve of mine) and flavors, they are one of the only candies made without corn syrup.  They are gluten-free, casein-free, and made in a facility free of the 10 most common allergens.  This is a big deal to a family like ours where we deal with artificial color intolerance and nut allergies.

They are really good too!  I was sent a few packs to sample, and I have to say that I definitely liked the gummy bears better than some other organic gummies I’ve tried (which were good too, only Surf Sweet’s were better).  Surf Sweets have quite a few varieties to choose from including Gummy Bears, Gummy Worms, Sour Worms, and many more.  They come in larger 2.75 oz. bags and small .9 oz bags.  You can find Surf Sweets at these local retailers and on Amazon.com.

Now that we’ve got the candy covered, check these out.

Both educational and fun, Pedestal Pets are much more than most pencil toppers out there.  Pedestal Pets come in 3 series: Neighborhood, Safari, and Barnyard Friends.  Each package includes 4 animal toppers with 4 coordinating pencils and 4 fun fact cards.  With the fun fact cards, kids will learn fun facts about their favorite Pedestal Pet animals.  They can also trade these with their friends!

Another cool and unique thing about Pedestal Pets is that kids (with mom and dad’s help) can visit the Pedestal Pets website and print out an adoption certificate complete with the child’s name and the names they’ve choosen for their Pedestal Pets.

If you’re looking for a trendy and educational gift to fill the stockings with this Christmas. I would highly recommend Pedestal Pets.  They’re cute, they’re great quality, they’re fun, and your kids will love taking them to school!

Pedestal Pets are available at hundreds of specialty retailers around the country and can be purchased online at PedestalPets.net.

Disclosure: In order to facilitate a review I was sent samples of the above-mentioned products free of charge. The opinions expressed are honest and are entirely my own.

My husband even built a wonderful "fireplace" so the kids have a place to hang them. :-) And the cool rule we have about stockings -- you can get into them as soon as you wake up on Christmas morning, no matter how early! It was a tradition from when I was growing up. :-)
