Ouidad, the “Queen of Curl”, is an
internationally recognized stylist,
salon owner, mother, author and
global educator.

In 1984, as the pioneer of the curly hair industry, she opened the first salon in the country to cater exclusively to curly hair. Since then her trademarked cutting and styling techniques and specialized line of award winning products, have instilled confidence in curly and wavy haired people everywhere.

At one odd point in my life my hair was what I’d consider curly, but for most of my life I’ve just had wave.  Most women with wavy hair would agree with me when I say curly hair is beautiful, straight hair is beautiful, but when you fall in between…it’s just not pretty.  The hair that grows closest to the top of my head is only slightly wavy.  The closer the hair gets to my neck, the curlier it gets.  Weird, huh?

When I had long hair I would spend 30 minutes or more trying to coax my wavy hair into glossy curls.  Yeah, didn’t work too well.  What I got was flat waves on top and frizzy curls underneath.

Ouidad products are made to address the issues that women with wavy and curly hair have with styling their hair.  Their products are designed for 4 curl types: wavy hair, curly, tight curly, and kinky.  I love on the Ouidad website that you can search by product category, curl type, or by concern.  That way you can find the perfect product for you.

I was sent the Curl Quencher Moisturizing Shampoo, Conditioner, and Styling gel.  I discovered only after I received them that the Curl Quencher is designed for tight curly hair.  My hair is nowhere near tight curly, but I can tell you that, after only one washing with the shampoo and conditioner, my hair felt luxurious!  It was soooo soft.  As my hair dried my waves began curling up.  I have to laugh about this though, because my hair is pretty short so my hair really started rockin’ out.  I had curls sticking out every which way from the parts of my hair that have curl.  Had my hair been longer the result would have been beautifully smooth, piecey (I know, that’s not a word, but you know what I mean, right?) waves.  It almost made me wish my hair was long again!  The Curl Quencher Styling Gel was great too.  It has good hold, but won’t make your hair crunchy.

All of Oiudad products are gentle, moisturizing, and water soluble so you don’t have to worry about damage from product build up.

  1. I have to try this! My hair is the same way, straight on top but towards the end its wavy. Hopefully I can get all those curls to come out also, without the hassle of curling it everyday.
  2. My hair has lots of waves and curls so I will definitely have to give this a try. I've tried everything from cheap drugstore stuff to high-end retailers and nothing really does the trick. Thanks for sharing!
  3. I would have prefer my hair to be natural just like the way it should be. I'm always afraid that my hair will really get into trouble. I want to preserve it as long as long as I can. Honestly, I want to style it but wished that it'll be all natural.
