I cannot believe how HOT it is here in San Antonio!!!
I heard it was hot, but I was thinking Dallas heat–a week or two of scorchers and then high 90’s most of the time. I was entirely wrong. It has hit 104-105 degrees everyday since I got here. Even our air conditioner is balking at the heat. During the hotest part of the day our house can’t cool below 83 degrees, not too uncomfortable, but still warm enough for me to seek a cool treat.
When given a choice I’d prefer a cool treat other than ice cream for dessert, but I admit to having a serious weakness for Breyers brand ice cream. My all-time favorite is Breyers Mint Chocolate Chip. LOVE IT! I was excited to try Breyers newest addition, Breyers Blasts!
Breyers Blasts are a new line of ice cream exploding with the flavor of our favorite cookie and candy brands. Breyers Blasts come in yummy flavors like Waffle Come, Whoppers, Mrs. Fields, Snickers, and more. I was so torn standing in front of the ice cream freezer. There I was, my 18 month old shrieking to be released from the shopping cart, my 4 year old pulling on my purse, begging to go home, and me staring at too many delicious flavors to just choose one. It was traumatic. Finally I chose Oreo Cookies and Cream Chocolate. I knew that the boys would love it and that I’d score some points with The Husband for this one. Thankfully, The Husband has instructed me to keep the freezer steadily stocked with ice cream. I can’t wait to get Breyers Snickers next!
We also got to try the new Mint Chocolate Chip Klondike Bar! I remember the very first time I had a Klondike Bar. I was 5 or 6, and I was visiting my grandma in Texas. I was so fascinated by the hard chocolate shell around the ice cream. I also remember that it was so much ice cream that I couldn’t finish the whole thing. 🙂 Given that I love mint chocolate chip, you can imagine how much I enjoyed these. The Husband prefers a heaping bowl of ice cream in the evenings so I get the whole package of Mint Chocolate Chip Klondike Bars to myself. I couldn’t be happier.
The little boys’ favorites were Popsicle Jolly Rancher Awesome Twosome. Talk about super messy in the heat of San Antonio! They were a hit nonetheless. One thing that I am not super excited about is the amount of food coloring in these. I’m not a big fan of artificial coloring (which is also in the Klondike bar), and I was a little concerned that the syrup that melted off of these stained Little Brother’s hands. It’s not like I was surprised about the food coloring, though. It is pretty obvious just by looking at the package that these babies are going to be packed with the stuff.
