Smooth Away is a hair removal pad that is covered by superfine crystals that help buff away hair from unwanted areas and at the same time leaving your skin very smooth and soft by exfoliating it. The Smooth Away pad is safe to use even in sensitive areas such as the underarms and the upper lip.
I was actually very skeptical when I received this As seen on TV product to review. I really hoped it would work because I have sensitive skin and shaving often gives me razor burn or makes my legs itchy. But I couldn’t see how something could just “buff” away hair. I was even more skeptical when I actually received the product and removed it from the packaging. The pads are so fine that they almost feel smooth. I just knew I was going to have to write my first totally negative review.
I had just gotten out of the shower (the instructions specify clean and dry skin) when I opened the package so I decided to give it a go and see if anything came of it. I had a few days of hair growth on my legs. I rubbed my skin in a circular motion for a little bit, but nothing seemed to be happening. Then I read on the packaging that you are supposed to rub about 3 revolutions one way and then rub the same number of times in the other direction.
Finally, I began to notice a difference, and eventually my hair was buffed down enough that I could wear shorts. The total time it took “smooth away” was about 15 minutes. I wouldn’t say my legs were silky smooth, more like a day’s growth, but I was very impressed. And there was a surprising added benefit. I have this weird phenomenon where some of my leg hair grows just below the top layer of my skin. Shaving does nothing to remove it and I usually end up tweezing them out. Because it also exfoliates your skin, after 3 sessions with the Smooth Away I had no more of those hairs! Yay!

Though not great when you are in a hurry, Smooth Away is excellent for those with sensitive skin and those who want an alternative to shaving with a razor. It’s also great for those times when you need to shave, but you *gasp* run out of hot water–not-so-rare occurrence at our house.
