I recently had the opportunity to try out a relatively new product that I think every parent with young children should know about.
How many of you have ever lost your kid in a store, even just for a few seconds?  It can be terrifying for both parent and child.  There are often times, particularly when we are on vacation, when we are in a place that is just a missing child scenario waiting to happen (think Disneylandish places).  I remember one time when I was a kid, I was on vacation at Lake Havasu with my family and another family.  We had to run into town for supplies, and with all the commotion and chaos that our two large families caused we ended up leaving my 2 or so year old sister at K-mart.  It was a good 20 minutes or so til we realized she wasn’t in the van with us.  I can’t imagine how my parents felt!
SafetyTat was designed with just those scenarios in mind.  SafetyTats are temporary tattoos with your contact info.  If you plan on being out for the day in a crowded place you simply apply the tattoo and go.  The tattoo concept eliminates the need to rewrite, restick, or reapply anything.  The tattoo will last all day (multiple days really) and through several hand washings (if the tattoo is placed on the hand).
There are several different varieties you can order; the Original SafetyTats come in either boy and girl prints with your phone number printed on the tattoo,  the Quick-Stick Write-On! tattoos are great because you can write the phone number of the current caretaker (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, etc.), and the new TatBuilder that lets you customize your tattoo.  They even have tats for children with allergies, asthma, and special needs.  This one would have saved Big Brother some near emergencies on several occasions:
The first time I put one on Big Brother I gave him the drill, “If you get lost or you can’t find Mommy, you just find a grown-up show them Mommy’s phone number on your arm.  Now if you can’t find me you don’t have to be scared.”  Big Brother was so proud of his tattoo he showed everyone he could, and rehearsed to them the drill I gave him.

We are going to the children’s museum this afternoon, and I’m going to feel so much better about letting Big Brother run around and explore knowing that if he gets lost or can’t find me he has my phone number right on him at all times.
