I recently received a DVD that, now that I’ve experienced it, I can no longer live without.  Storyland Yoga is a Must Have for every parent with children between the ages of 3 and 7!  And I can assure you that Big Brother backs me up on that one!

Storyland Yoga is an interactive kids yoga DVD. It has won multiple Awards (2010 Parent’s Choice ApprovedDr.Toy “Best Green Product,” and Preferred Choice from Creative Child Magazine).
“Certified Children’s Yoga Instructor Ahmed Fahmy takes little yogis on two fun-filled adventures, Save the Whale and Condor Trek, in which they learn yoga poses by imitating animals and gain interest in the planet by helping endangered species.”  In the Save the Whale segment the kids learn about a beached whale and practice yoga positions while pretending to be various sea animals while saving a beached whale.  In the Condor Trek the little yogis find some baby Condor eggs.  They learn that Condors are an endangered species and go on a trek to deliver the condor eggs back where they belong in the mountains.  During the trek they row in their canoes, meet wolves, crocodiles, and bears.  Each thing they encounter and do is acted out in yoga positions.

As soon as we received this DVD Big Brother was eager to try it out.  I was a little skeptical at first that Big Brother’s attention would hold out through the entire yoga session–each of the two sessions is about 20 minutes.   I did the yoga alongside him, and, though the story was interesting and cute, he left off following the instructor about 2/3 of the way through.  HOWEVER, about 15 minutes after Save the Whale ended Big Brother asked to watch it again.  So we did it again…and again.  Each time Big Brother watched he did more and more of the yoga moves that Ahmed taught.  Can I just tell you that I was exhausted!  I think Big Brother was too because after doing Save the Whale three times he took a rare nap…for THREE hours!
See, even Spiderman does yoga! Riding a bicycle
In his canoe, going down the rapids!
A “smiling snake”

Since then Big Brother requests his yoga DVD everyday!  He now does all of the yoga positions, and has become so good at listening to the instructor and is very proud of himself for it. I love it!  Storyland Yoga is something I can feel totally good about him watching!  What is even better is that I love doing it alongside him! It is wonderful! It is helping him expand his imagination while strengthening and stretching his muscles–and mine too!  I am so excited about having this during the rainy fall days and the coming winter days.  I have a feeling I’ll have this DVD memorized before long!
I would highly recommend this kids yoga DVD for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and caregivers.  It’s awesome!  What a great Christmas present, eh?
The other thing I LOVE about this DVD is the price!  You can purchase Storyland Yoga on Amazon for only $14.99 AND it’s eligible for Amazon Prime or Free Super Saver Shipping!

Disclosure:  Thank you so much to playfulplanet.com for providing me a copy of Storyland Yoga to review.  I received this DVD free of charge in exchange for a thoughtful and honest review.

  1. That is awesome! Especially with the spiderman muscles :). I would love an easy yoga to do at the end of this pregnancy, and it would be awesome to have the kids want to do it too. Thanks again!
  2. I saw that at the store the other day, and I'll be honest I thought it seemed kinda lame. You've convinced me otherwise! I bet Abby would love it. thanks for the review :)
  3. There are a couple of cheesy parts and I'm sure Mike will laugh at the anti-emissions/global warming references (I think there are only 2), but other than that the teaching style and stories are perfect for kids.
  4. I love that he is doing Yoga as Spiderman. I'll have to check that out. My kiddos love doing Yoga.
